Dealing with Le Mans rambots

Any suggestions for how to avoid the crazy aggressive rambots at Le Mans?

I've pretty much found the best ways of overtaking without being taken out, but with my Toyota only on 17/23, I'm still running at a significant speed disadvantage.  And it is just soooo irritating when faster cars just slam me off track from behind, making no attempt to make a clean pass, even on a dead straight when we are the only two cars in sight.

I've tried racing in cockpit view so I at least have a mirror, but even moving to one side to let them by doesn't work, they'll still deliberately take me out, and the cockpit view from the LMP's is just too restrictive for me to race effectively.

About the only defense I've found is to hammer on the brakes at just the right time, which seems to work about half the time, such that they hit me square from behind and I actually get a speed boost and can retain control.  But braking every time I'm about to get overtaken doeth not a winning strategy make!
