Leagues arriving with the Dec 5 update

It is time for another update of the game next Tuesday, December 5, as the next car pack comes out. With that update we also get leagues back in Forza Motorsport. Leagues were introduced in FM6, and were a week long, points-based competition, where racers were separated into one of five skill brackets (from Grasshopper to Pinnacle).

They are introducing several changes to leagues in FM7, and you can get all the details in this week's Week in Review. In short, the new league features are:

  • Seasons: usually four week long, and each week is a different week-long event.
  • Five skill bands from Grasshopper to Pinnacle, similar to what we had in FM6. In addition, each skill band is split into five ranks. Players move between ranks and bands by earning league points.
  • League points are based on three things: the position you start in, the position you finish in, and your opponents' skill.
  • Each band will have more players. One of the problems in FM6 was that the higher tier lobbies were almost empty. In addition, they're doing a more flexible system where players in adjacent ranks/bands can join in order to make sure lobbies have more players.
  • Rewards come in more flavours: credits, gear suits, and cars. There are credit awards for playing each day, and for moving up in bands/ranks.

For the first league season there will be two suits to be won: the Gingerbread Man suit, and the New Year's suit. There are also two cars up for grabs: the 1954 Jaguar XK120 SE, and the 2000 BMW Z8.

With regards to match making and rewards, there are some more details in the Week in Review. Looking forward to trying out these leagues, hopefully they'll be a solid improvement over the ones in FM6!
